Alternative daily
Discussion
My Daytona is my only watch which I wear everyday. I have been thinking about getting an additional watch to wear as a daily as a) the Daytona gets a lot of attention (not always welcome) and b) it does get knocked about a bit so I want to save it for more special occasions.
Want to spend c£1,500 and have been looking at used Tag Carreras - any other suggestions? I would like something not formal and ideally with a rubber or leather strap.

With a bit of a stretch (like everything) and you might get a privately sold Tudor Pelagos or Black Bay, maybe a Bremont MB2
I have a number of watches, but I find myself drawn to the Pelagos for daily wear.don logan said:

Dunno about rubber/leather but they look great on the right Nato's, esp. the well worn ones (subs, that is).
I really like my Glycines, and as Glycine have launched a whole new range some of their 2016 models are really cheap at the moment.
The Combat Sub Aquarius can be had for around £780 instead of £1500 and is a great every day watch.

My Airman 2000 is now nearly 20 years old and has worn far better than some other brands I have had.

To the OP... have you thought about how you'll feel with something "inferior" on your wrist? How you'll wish, in certain situations, that you had your Daytona on?
What if you spot someone with a similar Daytona and they spot you with your "other" watch. Will you care that you notice an air of superiority on their face?
I think you have to buy something of equal status, which somewhat defeats the object of your quest, or the Omega (or whatever) will soon be consigned to the drawer or sold.
This is my fear looking for a Sub or GMT to join my old faithful (and knocked about) OP DJ. I hanker for the Sports Look but my DJ is as iconic. It's worth half the price of a Sub, also an icon. What will I end up wearing? Maybe I'll ditch the Sub as "everyone" wears an homage/copy/fake?
I thought a cheaper watch would go down better with my clients, but it shows a degree of success and that I must know what I'm doing. I can see situations where a Daytona may be seen as garish or prone to theft, but are you sure you want to be without it?
