Summer Camping Booked
Discussion
So I've gone and booked us a week in Pembrokeshire at the start of August. Found what is hopefully a nice quiet site on Pitchup not too far from the sea and a little harbour town so should be good for us.
First time doing a whole week with the kids (6 & 4), usually kept it to a couple of nights until now so wish me luck! Praying for good weather. So long as I've got a beer in my hand and some meat sizzling on the BBQ at the end of the day I'll be okay. Hoping to get a bit of body boarding in too.
What's your plans?

Hoping for a few days in Cornwall near Padstow (nice old stately home with camping in the gardens) and have thought about Pembrokeshire too. Only problem with Pembrokeshire area is that it is about 5 hours drive, and I can pretty much see my house from there so it manages to be a long way away and yet too close to home at the same time.
I'm still prevaricating over buying a new tent to replace my Outwell Montana 6 that seems to be failing

We have ten nights booked at the beginning of August. Got two sites booked in Normandy one near Ravenoville-Plage and one near Honfleur.
Taking our 1982 air-cooled T25, with wife and two kids (4 and 8 years old). Not gone so far before, so a few little nerves......
Here is a picture of us in Charmouth (near Lyme Regis) in May this year.....

Can't wait....

Two weeks off work, so a few nights at Highlands End, Bridport, http://highlandsendholidaypark.co.uk/ and then trundle off to Wooda, Bude Cornwall for a few more nights http://www.wooda.co.uk/ Hopefully top it up with a few more nights around the area.First summer in the Hymer and cannot wait.

^^ Liking the sound of all of this.
For once we've nothing booked. Plan is to wait for the weather forecast and head wherever looks best. We live in Warwickshire, so can easily go N, S, E or W.
Downside is some of the best/most popular sites will be full, but we'll see how we go.
Anyone else tried this in the school holidays?

Is that the Camping and Caravan Club site? Nice site but nowhere really sensible to walk the dog!Taking our 1982 air-cooled T25, with wife and two kids (4 and 8 years old). Not gone so far before, so a few little nerves......

We spent a weekend at Sumners Pond near Horsham a few weeks ago. A lovely site. The 22nd July sees us causing traffic jams on the A303 as we head down to Trewan Hall between Padstow and Newquay. Not been before but it may be the one referred to by another poster above. On the return trip we are stopping at Shorefields Merley Court site

If it's Callow Top you might be in for a big surprise!!
It was Callow Top, I was a bit disapointed for the price if I'm honest. It was ok as it's still outside school holidays so very quiet, there's no way I'd go there if I knew it would be busy. There were a few irritating kids to disrupt things, schools must have finished in Northern Ireland. The kids enjoyed it and it's good location wise but I don't think we'll be going back. £25 a night for only a tent is a bit steep.
Makes me appreciate wild camping even more, got another wild trip arranged for September.

No, it was the Nissan Navara Club site. Unfortunately, having kids means we 'need' various entertainment options. I think it was called Newlands Holiday park in Charmouth. It is not a bad site though - nice and clean and staff friendly and helpful. Kids loved it too, which helps matters. It provided a good base to explore from although some of the local hills were quite challenging for my 35 year old van!!

We usually do a Sunday to Saturday to avoid the traffic all going down on the Saturday - although we travel from the Isle of Wight so we tend to go A35 rather than A303. A35 is also a nightmare on a Saturday - coming back it never seems to be much of a problem......

We are off to France and Switzerland for 10 days with 5 year old twins in our T5 Campervan. Not looking forward to the "are we there yet dad" especially as a bit of a trek but will be doing lots of biking, hiking and relaxing by the lakes in the mountains.
Yep two young kids is a challenge! Good luck. Ours seem to get suitably distracted with DVDs, music and silly games - the only bugbear is when ours get bored on a long trip they just want food/ drink....... which luckily they are both very active otherwise. We camped near La Clusaz (spelling??) many moons ago and went around Switzerland/ Geneva/ Interlaken and even down to Milan (did not look too far on the map for a daytrip!!). It was lovely though...... Have fun!
