Canyon - these bikes any good?
Discussion
So, looking for a fast road bike for 30-50mile uncompetitive runs, summer weekend use only...I'm in my mid 40's so nothing too serious on the geometry side...
Noticed Canyon currently have some big savings this month...

Any good?

I bought an Ultimate CF and have to say I love it but it is designed to be a road rocket with, I think it's best described as an 'aggressive' riding position. Having said that I have no problem in terms of comfort on 40-50 mile rides and I am 59 years old and not as bendy as the youngsters!!
Stability is good and mine has rim brakes that are perfectly good on the local hills. Talking of hills, I weigh 58kg and the bike is 6.7kg (if I remember right!) and two things that never fail to make me smile are; the acceleration, like a proverbial rat up a drainpipe, and the hill climbing .
You need to use the on-line sizing calculator which involves measuring all your bodily particles!! The customer support is excellent and it is worth contacting them to make sure the sizing is correct.
I hope you enjoy your new ride!!

I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about the Ultimate but took a chance and, while it is much more race oriented than my Genesis Croix de Fer, I choose it everytime for a day out on the roads, the Genesis spends it's time on the cycle tracks (mostly poor surface around here) and canal towpaths.
The bike you are looking at looks fantastic and not quite as race focussed as the Ultimate, if I didn't have mine I would be sweating trying not to press the buy button lol!!

I've got an Endurace, non disc, albeit I'm at the other end of the weight/height spectrum and it's fantastic. Still aggressive in its geometry that its fast on the descents, but comfortable enough for 140km at pace. Even drove to germany to get mine as at the time the euro favoured it! And their factory is near(ish!) the nurburgring!
Great customer service too. Do it!

Are you like 4 ft 9 or something???I dialled all my dimensions into the Canyon calculator for the Ultimate and it recommended XS which is what I got and it suits me down to the ground! My Genesis is a 52cm frame and that fits well also.

I've got the Di2 version of the Endurace SLX. Awesome bike - comfortable, light and fast. Best thing is, like all Canyons is that it comes with no weak areas - no cheap wheels etc.
Only thing I changed was the saddle. I even got £50 for the one it came with on ebay.
Great to hear, the Endurace SLX with Ultegra Di2 will be my next road bike.Only thing I changed was the saddle. I even got £50 for the one it came with on ebay.
Probably. Just need to save up. £900 off currently.

Having spunked £2200 on a new bike there wasn't any budget left for new shoes....
I use NW Celsius boots year round and I use them on the MTB too.
Once they wear out I will replace them with SPD-SLs in both summer and winter versions.....
So, after a hard nose look of what I want in a bike vs what I actually need (and can justify to the other half!) I got this one...

Just over a grand in the sale for what looks like a well specified, decently light bike, which hopefully can take some of the knocks associated with bike racks and messing about with the kids but also get some speed up on my own rides....
