Nissan Pathfinder
Discussion
Hi first post so go easy on me,
I'm currently thinking of buying a Pathfinder 2.5 dci auto with roughly 70k miles and about 9 years old. We will mainly be using it for towing.
Has anyone any experience with a pathfinder that could help me for e.g. any known issues. I would normally opt for a manual but most seem to be auto's in the spec I want.
Don't really know much about this model and just wondered people's opinion on them.

We had a Pathfinder as a hire car for a while whilst the wife's car was in being repaired. I can't say much about common faults as it wasn't ours but I have to say I absolutely loved it! It felt unbreakable, looked smart and had pretty much everything you could need as it was the top spec model. It had a huge boot and was, I'd imagine, perfect for towing with.
The one we had was a manual, which was very, erm, agricultural; but it all added to its charm! Accept what it is; a Navara with an enclosed boot and some more seats, and you shouldn't go wrong.

Thanks, that's exactly how I would see it purely as a work horse. I'm going to view 2 tomorrow night in the adventure spec so I will have better idea. The one we had was a manual, which was very, erm, agricultural; but it all added to its charm! Snapped chassis issue (the pathfinder shares the same ladder chassis as the Navara).

Thanks, can't believe I completely forgot about the issue with chassis snapping, hmmmmmm may just stick with the CR-V if it hasn't got good paperworkhttp://www.parkers.co.uk/vans/news-and-advice/2017...

Also I believe there was a problem with the air con pipes which run to the rear.. they corrode and leak. The fix is a body off job!!
Was looking at a Pathfinder myself albeit with a slightly more generous budget, but after researching them I've been put off as they do seem to have a disproportionate amount of issues.

Thanks for the help everyone, just been shown first hand how knowledgeable the PH community is.
The car I viewed had just had a new engine fitted as a result of the timing chain stretching at a cost of £4k
The air con didn't work which may just need gassing but could be more sinister
The car especially around the windscreen was covered in bad rust spots and worryingly the underside of the car was freshly painted, clearly over the top of the rust.
Even though I like the pathfinders I think I'll stick with the cr-v for now as it hasn't given me any headaches apart from the compressor has failed on the air con which is apparently a costly fix
