As a young driver wanting to break into big time racing, I am in need of Sponsorship, management and Guidance. Coming from a single seater background, most manufacturers have such schemes. I feel that if TVR had such a scheme it would be more appealing for new drivers and help existing Tuscan Drivers in there careers. So do you feel that TVR Should give Tuscan Drivers a chance to experience there GT Cars, and offer help in moving up the ladder?

Now we're back to decent sized grids and exciting racing again, I can't see TVR funding such an exercise.

True, but I do feel that they need to help more, Although we get lots of TV Coverage I still don't think the Championship has enough exposure. What about a test drive of the GT Car for race winners ect?? (the winner of the Junior Formula Ford Championship gets a test of an F3 Car!!)

Interesting idea and one that wouldn't cost them directly.

Rob,when we go to Thruxton I'll bring you a copy of a letter that has been sent to TVR today. Basically it asks for thier response to 11 key issues currently causing concern in 2002 and as a result could effect those of us planning for 2003. One of these points touches on the subject you raise but I don't think it would be wise to discuss this in such a public forum at this early stage, you know how sensitive TVR can get. There are ways of achiving much the same result but direct help for young drivers from TVR is unlikely. If however we can change the way certain things are done, which in turn allows teams and drivers to make full use of thier cars in and off season , then maybe we can produce extra income to help young drivers with limited budgets.I for one have tried to do this for the last 5 years, and have had some success with JCW originally and this season with Jay,but with testing now incorporated into the race weekend it is no longer viable to share one's testing and therefore obtain much needed income. If you want things to change or return to the way things were, then we must get TVR to allow us to make our own arrangments such as Tuscan testing and driver tuition on seperate test days to help team budgets.Up until this season,25% of our budgets were obtained from this source, sadly this year, not a penny!!

Rob as a team manager and a great belever in young talent being given a try with or with out the money and as we have done in the past 3 years with Caton and Mason, Tvr have done the same by giving the past 4 champions a test,in there GT Bvr,Ian Mckeller, Caine, and Stephen Guglielmi last year, the problem I see is these cars cost 400k and Tvr have given Mckeller and caine drives in there cars after 2 seasons or more of tuscan racing so they have done something for Tuscan drivers, but they cant afford the cars to be damaged because of the costs of building them but I think they will in the futere, well I hope so for you, Mason, Caroline,to race in TVRs at LE Mans and being Ex Tuscan drivers in TVRS is what Tvr is all about.

The TVR Tuscan Challenge is in good hands with the likes of Bert Taylor and Rod Barrett. Rod has done more for young drivers as a sponsor and deserves the credit. Bert has also been responsible for supporting talent rather than money. Whatever Rod has written in his letter will be possitive for all concerned.

Thanks for that guys! Its good to see that people are interested in helping out! I do think that we need to be able test when we want, there just isnt enougth time at the race meetings to do anything positive. I for instance havent had one extra test this year which means all the race day test does for me, Is allows me to learn the car again! So that is something we deffinately need to put in the letter! We shall have a natter at Thruxton! Cheers Rob.

Rob, a chat at Thruxton is on the cards for a fair number of the teams and drivers, and one of the main issues will be testing.See you there.
