Morning all.

Bit of a strange one here.

Always been a company car driver, currently have an A5 Sportback, wife is in a leased Cupra until September 2018.

Now here's the the dilemma, currently all is well and my A5 goes back in December, was thinking about opting out anyway as tax is getting crazy, got 2 small kids 4 and 3 and last month wife drops the 3rd bombshell, so after a month of wandering what on earth has just happened i'm in the dilemma of having to sort transport for a 5 person family that 3 need car seats (thanks government for that high back business last year as 3 high back wont fit most cars!!)

Plan is to keep Cupra for her until it goes back so she can do 2 in the back and 1 in the front, but on weekends and trips we need a car to fit us all in, so its pushed my hand to opt out and look at options.

Wifes favorite obviously is Discovery Sport, X5 & Santa Fe type jobbies with the small seats in the back, she is adamant on no MPV although I do like the S Max.

So my question is how have people in the past financed a car with car allowance, as i have no deposit, i need to act fairly quickly and don't want a shed as it will be for work too and has to be fairly presentable.

PCH seems out as SUV's seem pricey and need a decent deposit, with 5k allowance for miles, I need about 12k
PCP again needs a big deposit, LR want about £6k to make monthlies affordable
Outright would need a loan for £25K ish to again monthlies would be high and need to allow for other expenses.

I've man mathed about £500 clear after tax on the allowance:

£473 extra a month gross giving about £290 after tax and NI (40%)
£280 saving on BIK from the Audi

Any help or advice appreciated

Does it have to be brand new?

If you set yourself a budget of 15-20k you can get some very nice cars:

I know you didn't want an MPV but it does seem to fit the bill:

Mazda5

S Max is a great choice especially in Titanium X Sport Spec it has an engine to suit all needs.

as a fellow Cupra leasee I think my position on it if I was in your shoes would be use the Cupra yourself and buy the wife a suitable car for say £10k with a low rate loan which the kids can trash without too much worry.

We are only paying 7.2ppm on the Cupras so you could then cover the excess mileage without any bother!
