What watch for around £1000
Discussion
Sadly I recently lost my faithful Tag F1 Chronograph (circa 2004 watch). Whilst I haven't had the official coms back from the house insurance there is a chance that they may replace as new as the old one isn't available.
The current equivalent model is circa £1000, but I am considering a change.
Any recommendations / suggestions. I am thinking either completely the other way and a dress watch to wear with suits, or back towards the chronograph style. I already have a later F1 Chrono, so am not too keen to replace with the latest one.
Happy to stick a bit more money into it, although there is always the chance they will just give the current value (not amazing) in which case I'll be going for a Seiko.
Cheers

How about the Tudor Black Bay 41 (or 36) can be dressed up or down depending on bracelet or strap? Ernest Jones sell Tudor but only in some shops, not online.

Oris have some nice pieces these days? Big Crown, Divers 65 and Heritage are all nice and close(ish) to budget..

At that price Longines would be a good shout. Plenty of choice from a historic brand. Have had a Hydroconquest for years and love it but they also do plenty of dressier options and chronos too...

Ok, seems it will be a card that I can use in Ernest Jones, H Samuel and some other shop...
Direct Line by any chance...?Press them for funds rather than restrictive vouchers. I had similar when my property was burgled and ended up having to compromise on things due to being limited where I could buy from. In the end it was only because they were, imo, overly-generous on their offer that I accepted them.
In future though, I'd push for cash to be able to buy from my choice of seller.

OP for a grand I'd consider a Seiko.
Any recommendations? Seems I'm stuck with Ernest Jones. I'd love an Omega, but it is just way out of my price bracket. The Tag's are quartz, all look quite similar now and I do have a couple.
I am really considering the Hamilton's. They have similar movements to the "premium" brands and I have one which I really like. The Longines and Tissot's just don't do much for me for some reason. I appreciate the product, but they just miss the zing for me.
Here's an upcoming Longines with a bit of Hodinkee cool to it..

And here's my favourite of the recent Hamilton models..

Any recommendations?Hamilton isn't bad either. Two that I really like are these pan europ's, if my choice was was limited to EJ I'd get one.
