Anyone hired a Merc A-class from easycar? How good? Any experiences? Just had to hire one for a week.

cousin had one for a couple of days. seemed OK. easycar were a bit anal ... wouldn't let him swap cars with another customer because "they were only allowed to do one transaction per day" (cousin wanted auto box, other bloke didn't like the colour of his car). Cheap as chips ... something like £7 per day???

Careful, now! Easyrentacar are supposedly well known for finding "damage" to the car after you return it and charging huge rates for fixing it.

They get away with it by actually charging you to have the car inspected when you return it - most folks don't bother and then have no comeback when the "damage" is reported.

This was the subject of Watchdog, or some other wanky consumer "I bought a TAG watch for £10 off some bloke in the pub and it didn't work" tripe...

James, we hired one when we were in Mallorca back in May.

Easy to rent - did straight over Internet, no hassle at all, apart from the attendants being a bit anal (contract was set to run from 7am, wouldn't let us take the car at 6:45. So we had to sit in a shed for 15 mins..grrr).

You are limited to a daily mileage (60km I think it was), anything above that you pay a premium but it won't break the bank). And when you take it back, allow plenty of time to inspect the car WITH an attendant - previous posts are spot on.

They will give you the option to just leave the car if you're in a hurry, but allow extra time to go round with them. Oh, and check the car BEFORE you leave as well - you don't want to get stitched up by someone else's carelessness.

Apart from that, no problems. We had an oil burner which was just fine, sent it back after doing 200km in 10 days (attendant had to check the figures 3 times as he couldn't work out how we'd done so little). Cheap as chips, nice car and thoroughly pleasant experience.

We had one last year in Malaga, no probs.
I asked about the TV bad press & they just said they had "relaxed" the "damage" inspections. Excellent value & I would use them again without hesitation.

I will now sit back & wait for the horror stories!

I've never hired from EasyDoDa, 'cos every time I've calculated the mileage I'm likely to do and then factored in the excess mileage charge its worked out abut 50% more expensive than, say, Avis/Hertz etc. on an unlimited mileage basis.

I had pre-booked a car from Geneva for five days, but was unable to collect it because I did not take both parts of my Licence - photo card and counterpart, - no refunds, no car - my own fault for assuming that they'll operate like Hertz (I am a Hertz Gold card member and rarely have to show my licence - even in the States) as I had already given them all the details regarding my licence, of course I had not read the agreement documents and it was my PA who booked the car online so I missed any warnings there too.

Well I just got caught and was charged £75 for a pin dent above the driver's door handle. The thing was that the receptionist "Daz" spotted it seconds after I arrived. It was still cheaper than Avis; but a rather dishonest way of treating customers.
