For me Britcar wins in several ways. You get some lovely cars out on the track and the series attracts some top name drivers, yet at the same time Billy Normal can tip up and join in.
The "names" who are driving aren`t in it to boost their egos, they are either being paid to pedal Sir`s car round the track and want to bring it back in one piece, job done, for the old boy to pop it round himself for a while, or they are doing it for fun away from pushy sponsors or political / team hassles.
No one is ever going to use it as a stepping stone to motoring greatness and just in case there was a couple of hot heads behind the wheel the races last for between 2 and 24 hours so you need to pace yourself. To finish first, first you have to finish !!
Finally it brings teams and drivers together. Your team can affect the results as much as the drivers and for that reason they get involved and hopefully excited. All they can do in a sprint race is watch on as spectators.
I had a great time at Silverstone and look forward to Brands.

Got to meet a Sarah who's driving an MG in the series last week, hopefully she'll have picked up some "handling" skills & was quite keen to play around with the brake bias now she's learnt how much fun it can be.
I expect she'll be the one sideways at every race if not first after last weeks efforts at drift academy
Good luck Sarah if your reading this

I have to declare an interest in Britcar as I am James Tucker's brother-in-law and a sometime (hopefully Snet in May) competitor in Britcar.
James started Britcar literally from nothing having been infected with the Endurance bug when competing in the 1994 Willhire. He started the Super Coupe Cup for the BRSCC the following year and Britcar eventually emerged after a very long gestation. Interesting to see that many former Super Coupe Cup drivers are now in Britcar including Phil Bennett.
I know that JT was delighted with how the Silverstone meeting went and especially with splitting the former Britcar field.
BTW Henry-F wandered past your car a couple of times, but didn't spot you- will try to come and make myself known at Brands
Regards

Britcar is one of the best motorsport ideas for a long time.
Interesting to see if it one day replaces BTCC and British GT Championships
Britcar is close to British GT in quality of runners. BTCC is so far up it's own arse that it's untrue.
Neither race on the Brands Grand Prix circuit, but Britcar does.

In a black Renault 21 Turbo? Remember the Willhire races well. I went to the last 4 24 hour races at Snett ('91-'94) and got totally hooked! They were great events and I particularly recall screaming Honda Civics (Castrol junior squad including James Thompson?) lovely old Cossies (Heather Baillie, where is she now?) and the world racing debut of the E36 M3 run by Noel Bartlett's team (NCB Autokraft). That sounded superb down the Revett straight during the night. In fact, it was only due to race not running in '95 that I ended up going to Le Mans for the first time!
Top marks to James and the EERC team for getting this initiative up and running again. Long may it continue!

No it was a blue Golf Gti with Gary James who now drives the Britcar Safety Car

Thanks Ted. Britcar is a fantastic idea, and James Tucker understands what a true motorsport fan is looking for in a race meeting. I wasn't able to get down to Silverstone last weekend, but from what I've heard, it was a cracking meeting. Being able to spectate from the pitwall is a brilliant idea. Can't wait for Oulton in August

The pit lane is NOT a spectator area, Tucker would be foolish to advertise you can do this or even to allow it. Should you get injured in this area you are not covered by any insurance as it is a forbidden area.
