Looking to buy a used 981 S and debating on whether to buy a car with no sat nav / phone prep but has sports exhaust, sport and sport plus modes and PASM or hold out and get one that has Sat Nav / phone prep maybe at the expense of one of the other options - any thoughts or recommendations?
Also anyone got strong opinions on manual vs PDK with paddle shift.

981 with no phone prep no PCM worth substantially less than one with. Probably double the cost of these options new.
If you intend keeping the car for say ten years buying it may make sense at the right money but you would get seriously shafted on price if you needed to move it on in the short or medium terms.
Wouldn't touch it personally.
Cue someone saying PCM is poor and will become outdated. No matter, still essential for resale, as is phone prep.

how you get to PCM is worth double the org cost is shocking !

Interesting perspective from the OPC was most customers argue the sat nav isn't as good as Google Maps but still spec their car with that option anyway.
There are other considerations too. Does non-sat nav still have the touch screen? Is that important?
PDK vs Manual - hundreds of threads on here about it. Think about driving style & usage type (urban vs rural)
Second hand market comes down to desirable vs must-have options, and how long you are willing to wait.

I just don't get people who use satnav to be fair, it never takes you the right way, some times 30 miles the wrong wayto get you to a motorway !
Phone prep for me is important as I need to answer the phone in my car.
But it all comes down to the price of the car vs one fully speced up at £50k
trade offers later on will only be £1k in it for no PCM vs a car with, not the £6k stated by av185 lol

The OP is referring to a 981. NOT an older car. All my Porkers have PCM...even my oldest the 997 GTS. Those without it are worth substantially less as we all know.
So on the basis of your comments, presumably you specced your GT4 without PCM then??
Even you wouldn't be that stupid! I think!

I'd definitely try to drive the manual and PDK versions before you make any decision.
Having had mine for 4 or 5 months, I'd say that (for me) the most important option on my list was electric seats! You need this option to be able to tilt the seat squab and I couldn't get comfortable without this feature... I would have bought my car even if it didn't have the Nav.
You can wait ages for the right spec and then a few come along at the same time. So my advice would be do all your homework and be ready to move quickly if the right car does turn up.

Sat Nav works well enough IME but not essential as a portable unit will do the job as well or likely better.
PASM is brilliant but many seem to live without even on 20inch rims with little issue.
Sport Chrono - could live without but provides a number of nice to have options not lease adaptive gearbox mounts. (Comfort and dynamic improvements)
PSE - if it's a weekend toy then yes go for it. If you drive a lot on motorways and have PDK think carefully.
PDK - plenty of opinion, but it's a brilliant piece of kit that does its job superbly, but if you get a kick out of your own heel and toeing then it won't replace that experience.
Dual zone aircon- this is the option that actually gives you climate control, without this you don't set a temperature.
Parking sensors- not the best, slow to react, but rear visibility is poor so a must have on the rear.
Heated seats - could live without, but my wife couldn't, does give more winter roof down options
Folding mirrors/auto wipers,auto rear view etc - useful but not essential
Pdls- now much night driving do you do?
Sport design steering wheel, looks fantastic, with Pdk near essential IMO, but I would want it anyway as it looks fantastic (standard 981 wheel is cack IMO)
