Looking for a 6 or 7.1GT3 trackday car
Discussion
Hi All,
I am looking for a 996 or 997.1 GT3 trackday car. It must be cheap so High mileage, Previously crashed, Cat C/D, Tracked is fine.
Preferably have the suspension and brakes done (eg kwv3 and alcons), pref a rear cage. Diff, SSK etc would also be useful. Must be rhd.
It will be subject to a 3.9/4.0 rebuild hence I’m not fussed about high mileage, if engine has been replaced etc.
If anyone knows one that is for sale, might be for sale I’d be grateful if they could let me know. Either paste the link in this thread or contact me at brendonjones at hotmail dot com, or 07931714154
Many thanks,
BJ

Does it have to be listed? This seems good value - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
Friend has a mk1 clubsport rhd in his unit at the moment, but wants close to 70k for it ( not that clean either ).

Hi, thankyou yep the one in the attached link is currently near the top of my list.
To answer your question no it doesn’t have to be advertised I am happy to look at off-market ones. However the price would need to start with a 4 (or 5 unless it is extensively modified with absolutely everything I need).
I have been fortunate enough to have owned (and sold) 2 GT3’s and know from personal experience that the UK does not like modded GT3’s so these are actually a lot cheaper than clean/unmolested ones. Some of the prices people are asking for at the moment are dreaming and I know some have been for sale for a long time. I have a friend whos after a pristine one and has a lot to choose from.
Many thanks for your continued help

Friend of mine has a Porsche garage. He always has cars coming in/out and gets offered a lot of cars. Have asked him and he will check. Occasionally, he will get 1 or 2 in from Hong Kong that are ex track/demo cars, so sometime the odd bump and scrape but nothing serious. Last GT3 that came in from HK was about 20k ( couple of years ago though )

I think the 'striking' Lambo Lime Green one on AT just now could be worth a try as its priced toward high end condition when its err, not high end.I am looking for a 996 or 997.1 GT3 trackday car. It must be cheap so High mileage, Previously crashed, Cat C/D, Tracked is fine.

Yep that would be ideal. However yes the colour is hideous and would have to be resprayed. And its about £20k overpriced. Not sure if its on its original engine but I'll make some enquiries.http://www.mhcarsales.co.uk/used-cars/porsche-911-...

Again if anyone knows the car it would be useful to have some background info.

I'd buy a car off them, they look like decent purveyors of motor vehicles to the gentry ........http://www.mhcarsales.co.uk/used-cars/porsche-911-...
"Following a respray in 2016 to this Lamborghini Green Verdi Mantis this GT3 is a sure fire future classic!"
Hmmmm. can't say I'm convinced ......
OP, would suggest you avoid the 3.9 conversion. Go 3.8 997 Cup Motorsport parts or 4.0 factory parts. Speak to NXi20, Keep it Lit or Cunno on here. All have been down the big bore conversion route (most at their peril) as has 993RSR.

Hi BrendonAgain if anyone knows the car it would be useful to have some background info.
It's had a life which has not been kind, if you get my drift
I own the original engine from this car. It has 55K on it & is in need of a rebuild. As Slippy says, I'd swerve the 3.9 conversion, it's not worth the pain & in my case, didn't prove that reliable long-term. The 3.8 using factory parts is the way to go & seems to be the sweet spot anyway in terms of torque & overall smoothness of the engine. If you go to 4.0 (my plan for the engine from this car at some future date), I think doing it the way Porsche did (RSR crank with an additional 4mm of stroke) is the optimum. The cylinder liners need to become mighty thin when you whack oversize 4.0 pistons in the factory water jackets if you use the standard crank stroke.

Yep it appears so. I've just has this emailed from a mate, the advert from the 18th March. He also noted the chap selling it is apparently 'rather dodgy'.
Does anyone know the car?
[/url]
Yes, that's Anthony Fraser's old car. It's a good 'un, just modified & therefore worth 50p in the current climate. Anthony got ~£40K for it on eBay as I recall. The winning bidder disappeared & the guy advertising it was second highest bidder. Said it was a keeper but then put it up for sale within weeks. Car is tip-top though.Does anyone know the car?

Ah thankyou for the heads up. So the green car doesnt even have its original engine by the sounds of things, definitely massively overpriced then. It's had a life which has not been kind, if you get my drift

Yes, to be accurate I should have I will be getting a 4.0 conversion done at one of Fearnsport, 9e, Regal/Sharwerks or CTR. I've spoken to 9e but have been a bit busy workwise to get a chance to speak to the others yet
