Thought I had everything sussed - test drive this week, colour, spec (to keep below the magic £40k) decided and first mods planned.

Then I go onto the Ford configuration site this evening and this little curve ball appears...

WTF !! This has been cheekily slipped under the radar hasn't it?!

The general consensus is that it's here to help keep questions about the 2018 refresh at bay; it's about £1800 for some stripes and different wheels; but the prices have changed so much recently I'm not sure that's right!

Well maybe, but as the 2018 model is not for me, I placed an order today and struck a deal too - Race Red, all available options ticked at £39k OTR.

Chuffed! smile

Nice; the 2018 isn't for me either. The extra tech - meh, the look, meh. So, um.. well, anyway, good news - welcome to the club smile

40k quid for a GT is a lot of money. At that price I'd get a UK Camaro or a used GT500.

Christ only knows why Chevy haven't made a RHD Camaro, they'd make a killing.

When you look at what else is available for £40k the GT is actually quite good value! The Germans will flog you a hot hatch or a diesel rep mobile for £40k but for a premium offering you need to be spending £50k+

Australia will be getting the next Gen Camero in a few years. I think I there's a good chance a RHD Camero will be coming to the UK, so start saving.

The news on that is a bit two-sided. They've said they'll do it due to the Mustang's popularity, but also because of Holden pulling out of production, so it makes sense.
The same "news" also reports they'll make a call on it in 2018 or 2019 whilst development of the 7th Generation Camaro, and 8th Corvette are ongoing.

This is the same "news" that said the 5th Gen Camaro was "engineered for RHD" yet, clearly it wasn't. So.. I'll believe it if it appears in 2021.

An S197 based GT500 doesnt handle nearly as well as the S550 GT

You can make the GT go as fast as a GT500 and handle better, I know where my money would go. (well that is exactly where my money went!)

Camaro, erm no thanks had a mate with one and he handed it back early in his lease even though it looked amazing. frown
