Only the 111R and S2 Exige have Toyota engines. The standard car and 111S still use the k-series.

nope - very rare on the S2 Elise, except for the 135R which had the head retrofitted.

There seems to have been a spate of HGF's recently on both S1's and S2's.

The quality of castings on the later heads seems to be lower than the early ones. This leads to more problems with porosity and therefore HGF.

There is an excellent article on the K-series, including the HGF issue here...

www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elise/thecar/engine/kingk.html

Hope this helps,

define "excellent"?

most of that artical is pure conjecture etc.

the *facts* in it are somewhat inacurate, and where is this mirrical 100% reliable K with 300Bhp?

Define "inacurate" and "mirrical"

What are your issues specifically with the article? Instead of simply stating that it's inaccurate/conjecture/etc, it might be of greater assistance to the OP to hear more details from you?

I think Simon probably gets a bit sick of saying the same things over and over. That article is far from excellent. I can't be arsed to go into it either. Its Sunday!

K series engines are not reliable for a number of different reasons. Fact!

I've not seen any of Simon's other posts re: the K-series, as I have a Toyota-powered car so they're not relevant to me.

I was simply trying to help out a fellow PH'er by linking them up to a page I had seen on the relevant topic. It seemed to be detailed and informative re: the HGF issue, hence my describing the article as "excellent".

Why did I bother

not being evasive, just CBA to repeat myself.

I suggest you look though the relevalt threads on Seloc, they cover 99% of it.

suffice to say, it's not a matter of opinion that it's mostly Bollocks, there are *many* factual problems in it.
