Removing stickers from wheels

Purchased a 2nd hand bike recently, Felt F85 and it came with a pair of Campagnolo Scirocco 35mm wheels.

As it stands the bike is very busy with all the stickers.

The sticker clear coat is starting to peel from the wheel set anyway so thought I would start tidying up from here, what is best to remove any residue after peeling everything off with out damaging the surface of the wheels?

I use this type of stuff on a rag applied sparingly (or the one of wife's cotton make up pads).

Nail varnish remover works well to remove the gum residue.

Boots Pharmacy counters hold small bottles of Acetone for £1.60, which is perfect for removing sticky stuff.

I tend to use something less aggressive like Fenwicks general cleaner, a clean cloth and plenty of elbow grease. Replaced my wheel stickers last weekend, some peeled off and left no residue whilst others left a sticky mess which did take a while.

I used baby wipes to get the sticky goop off my wheels when I swapped the stickers - takes some elbow grease, but prevents taking off the lacquer.

Wonder Wipes.

We use these at work to clean our hands when there's no water supply but they'll also remove silicone sealant, paint, oil and all sorts of gunk.

I've used them to clean my carbon bike frame too.

I did mine with loads of WD40 and an old credit card to scrape with. Spray copious amounts on, leave a few minutes, scrape off what is now snotty goo.

Repeat until gone.

Heatgun/hairdrier to remove most of it then alcohol to clear up the sticky residue if left.

I bought some of this stuff a while back, but it seems like (smells like) bog standard citrus degreaser.

Thanks for all the replies, I have a few of these bits laying around at work myself.

I have a couple cleaning products that are usually car based, APC and some tar & glue remover I'm sure.

Just wasn't sure if they would be too strong. I'm sure if the wheels can handle WD40 etc then some diluted APC might help and some power spray.
