Unfortunately, I'm going to have to get rid of my lovely 3200GT - twins have made it impractical and I need to get a 'sensible' car :-<. What sort of trade in value do people reckon I should get on a manual 3200GT, 2002/02 plate, 23K miles, Grigio Touring Silver with black leather interior and with the Assetto Corsa alloys on? It'll probably go against an Audi. Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks.

I.

Sadley I think the reply is a pittance. From what I understand the maranellos, meridians etc of the world need to make an 8 to 10K markup on this sort of motor. So look at dealer prices knock of 10K for worst and 5K for best and you should be close to a rough guesstimate.

You could sell the twins and keep the car though

£25k with some over allowance against an Audi? (Try an S4, they are great!)

I think you'd be better off selling privately.

You can advertise on this site.

Check out autotrader.co.uk it'll give you some sort of idea of prices, then you can use the cash to drive a hard bargain for your Audi.

Recently got rid of my slightly older 3200 and reckon David A and Andrew R's posts are both on the mark.

Tried to sell mine privately over an extended period and had LOADS of timewasters so good luck if you go that route. Trade-in is the least hassle route but you will need to find a salesman who is keen to make a sale and who is therefore willing to do a bit of work to secure a sensible trade-in value for you.

Try the black & White garage in Newbury - they've just sold mine they got for a pitance trade in! It took them seven days to shift it for considerably more than I advertised it on here!! They're obviously going to be looking for a replacement now. PM me if you want to know how much they gave for it - someone could have had a bargain.

I got offered 25,500 trade in about 2 weeks ago, 2001Y 33k miles. I thought that was probably about right.

Thanks to all for the replies. I've been offered 25K by the local Audi garage, which seems to be about in line with the general opinion (although craigw seems to have done well!). Have to say I'm very disappointed, having paid 35K in June, but I suppose that's what happens when you keep a car for such a short time.

Thanks again,

I.

£35k retail to £25k trade on one of these in nine months is only about £3k of like for like depreciation. The rest is gross margin.

A year and half ago I tried to sell mine privately - impossible! Instead I took £23.5k for a four old car, due its service/tyres, against a new WRX. That was crap and I've just dumped that for another S4 Avant. That came in from a dealer at £10k under list less than a year old and next to no miles. Everything depreciates. Just think of the punter who dropped £13k on this S4 in under a year?

What Audi are you looking at?

> What Audi are you looking at?

Was originally looking at an S4 (Avant or saloon) because we've already got an A6 Avant. However, I'm loathe to put much more money in to the car; we've lost a load on the Maser and previously lost a load moving from a brand new A3 to an A6 when we found out we were having twins. So, I'm probably reduced to an A4 2.0T FSI quattro by the looks of things (oh, the shame :->

Whilst the 2 litre turbo A4 Quattro is meant to be good its a new car and for the price of a well specced one you could get a two year old S4, the V8 one which came out in May 03.
