£9k to spend on a convertible for the summer?
Discussion
Save yourself 3 grand and have something nice
1 owner from new, 74k on the clock, 231bhp, nearly new Michelin Pilot Sports and it looks immaculate.

Edit: Just noticed you have an SL500 in your garage, is the escort some kind of pleasure/pain experiment in convertibles you've thought of?

I think the original post is just a joke!
The price of that Escort!
You sussed me The price of that Escort!

Wa just idly browsing a car dealers website and those two were next to each other: similar price, similar mileage. No matter how much 80s fast Fords are coming into fashion, and how an SLK is never going to be an ultimate sports car, that Escort is always going to be ineffably c**p compared to that Mercedes!

Crazy, but I bet if properly cared for the Escort will be worth a lot more than £9k in a few years. The Merc, well, not so much...

You're probably right. Fortunately in this case "properly caring for it" would mean not having to drive the thing and avoiding the wobbly chassis and rough-as-f**k CVH engine!

Seeing as you have a SL500 I'd go for a four seater but with 8 rather than 4/6 cylinders.
