Bennno - I expect that there are a hundred blokes out there who, like me, would love to give your mags a new home. Unfortunately, there are also a hundred wives who'd allow it only over their dead body!

I had a complete set of Autocar from '88 to '97. Had to make space so asked around at Autojumbles etc if anyone wanted them. No one would take them even for free!! (No market!) Ended up taking them to the local tip, bloke there said put them round the back. Probably still there!!
Kept a few of the ones with TVRs in them though.

Try eBay. My elder brother decided it was time to make room in his house for a girl who works for Pork Farms, so his massive collection of car mags had to go. Sell them individually at intervals - he was getting 2-4pounds each. Do yourself a favour and scan the cover, describe some of the better features.

B@st@rd has made over 700 quid from this so far! Still can't believe he sold my Lotus Carlton brochure, though

Would be interested Bennno, but having a complete set of Classic and Sports Car from 1993 I cant quite justify it. Interesting though....

Benno, before you sell the mags could you perform a small a small anorak task?
Some time ago there was a debate about the mythical 5.0litre 290bhp LC option for the Chimeara when it first came out.
Some people say it was offered but never actually existed and was thus never used, some people say it was a figment of the imagination and never offered at all.
I know Steve Heath was looking for verification that this was ever offered. I had a copy of autocar from late 94 (I think, but I cannot be certain of the date) that I was going to send Steve that clearly showed the updated Chimeara range (ie, when the dropped the 4.3 option and went to 4.0 and 5.0 only,) and listed the 5.0l LC variant, complete with 290bhp figures.
Sadly, wifey filed it under B for bin whilst I was not looking, so I couldn't send the info to Steve.
If you've got it, could you confirm the 5.0l LC option appeared in the mag?

Of course, you most likely have better things to do!
Cheers

Scan the fetures? The CDs will take up less room by far, and you can still re-read them. Then flog 'em on ebay -- people buy anything on there

Did not make it clear but i have actually seperated the issues containing Porsche, TVR, Lotus and Ferrari articles from the dross.

Porsche set of 60 mags has provisionally gone (has all of the GT1/2/3, 993&964RS, in short every model since 91, others are about 35 mags each......

The TVR set has everything in it, TVR Cerb trip to Le Mans, 170mph+ club, cerb running report to 50k mls, all roadtest articles etc....well worth having. About half a dozen interviews with Mr Wheeler on how they styled the cars, how he was going to make a V12 Tuscan, the speed 6 Griffith....its fascinating.

Ferrari & Lotus similarily comprehensive.

Benno, I've also got a sporadic pile of Autocars from the early 90s that I was going to hopefully give away on here.
Looks like they'll be going to the tip now?
I could take them to the Virginia Water meet if anyone actually wants them?
Cheers.... Andrew

Some of you just aren't sad enough!!

I once bought 3,500 car magazines, now this equated to 10 piles 5 ft high (they just fitted into a large Volvo estate), I have an understanding wife, especially as these had to be kept downstairs as I was concerned about the floor loading!!

I fished out the ones I wanted to keep, sold some of the rarer magazines (still have a few of these, Supercar Classics, etc), sold a number individually with TVR related articles in and then sold the reamining magazines through the Pistonheads Classifieds (around 3,000 magazines) for what I paid for the original lot. So it can be done.

I still have a number with TVR related articles in them, if anyone's interested email me.

The killer in selling magazines is the carraige (postage costs).

Also the easier solution rather than scanning them is to remove the article carefully and store in plastic wallets in a binder, much quicker then scanning and can be re-read on the bog (for those of you without notebooks!!)

But you'll have to cut the articles up into individual letters and rearrange them for Cambelt to read

I might be interested in the Porsche ones, although I already have a house full of junk so finding space could be a problem!
