Hi folks,

Needing some suggestions as I'm at my wits end drawing up a list of candidates.

Requires:
Large boot with wide aperture - I am a photographer and carry a lot of awkwardly sized flight cases and such.
Small size - Live in a city centre with on street parking so spaces can be tight. Currently have a Golf so around that size. Parking sensors and such would be nice but I can look in a mirror so not too essential.
Decent petrol engine - I do 8k-10 a year with lots of town and city driving and would like to enjoy it so none of this diesel DPF pish.
Upmarket interior - Nice logical centre console, good sat nav, and a decent armrest. Have sat inside a few saloons like the Jag XE, Infiniti Q50 which have just what I'm after.
Price - around 15k for a 2 year old example at most. Could stretch for the right car - it'll be a keeper so depreciation isn't the biggest issue.

Current candidates are mostly VAG offerings like the Audi A3, new Golf, Seat Leon (drab interior but 1.8 TSI 184 is ideal)

In an ideal world I'd have the Skoda Superb 280 L&K but at 5m long I think I'd be easier moving house than trying to park it every day. Golf GTI/Audi S3 was investigated but discounted on price and the insurance quotes were ridiculous (circa 2.3k)

So PH, what can you muster up? I appreciate that I'm asking for a lot out of one car so suggestions that don't strictly keep to the criteria are welcome.

I liked ours as a company car, but the boot is tiny!

I'd say the Focus ticks all your boxes, it's a good steer as well as being packed with kit & being a Ford relatively reasonable to maintain.

There are a couple of leftfield options that are just as reliable as the above & VAG products you're considering.

2015 Kia Pro_Ceed GT Tech 1.6T 200bhp 10k (5 Years Warranty Left) An often overlooked option but more than worthy of consideration but check the insurance first.

Or if you decide to go bigger then the Mondeo is a great car:
