So my brother in law is currently looking for a sports car that he could buy and enjoy for roughly £9k but still use day to day... and my inexhaustible list of classics and modern classics hasn't done the trick yet. I'd love to hear whatever suggestions you all have. Anything and everything is welcome because surprises can be good though he is probably looking for a 'more grown up' sports car whatever that is.

Thanks!

He's not against a Boxster though the 350z is a little too dated in comparison to the 370z - personally I love both

Would he consider a hot hatch? I believe MK7 Fiesta STs have now depreciated to around £9-10k? I have one and believe the hype is justified.

I think it'd be a hard sell but well worth it, especially if I got to drive it! The problem is he's probably looking for something that can stand up to my sister's e46 M3 from Joe Bloggs perspective

He currently has an RCZ so something coupe is probably on the cards. Z4s seem to be a real bargain for what you're getting, though plenty of suggestions for him to choose from so far.

Had exactly the same 'problem' last year and got a 2006 56 Z4 Coupe, had a 350Z and S2000 before and of the 3 the Z4 is probably my favourite all things considered. Regularly seeing 35+mpg on a motorway commute if that's a consideration.

They do love tramlining so if your mate has a long commute over A and B roads it will become a bit tiring, I'm looking at CLS500s at the moment for a replacement.
