Posting videos - any specific format etc?

I'm writing a Falklands timeline, https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... mainly it's a rehash of work I did for Falklands 25 - so it's ten years old and web standards have moved on a lot. I have a few dozen videos, some are in .flv format. Is there a specific format that's preferable on the forum?

Also, is it possible to embed thumbnails of the videos so that they play within the forum post?

Best bet would be to upload to YouTube then copy links into your thread (which is great by the way!)
