911 997 brakes seizing

Hi all,

I'm sure a few of you will have experienced this; after not using the 997 for a week or two the brakes seize on, especially if it was wet when the car was parked up. Is there a way to avoid this? Could I leave the handbrake off and chock the car?

After cleaning the car you need to drive it and get the brakes properly warmed through (kind of defeats the object of washing it, I know)
Failing that, park it on level ground/in the garage and don't apply the handbrake.

It's not the handbrake shoes; it's the pads sticking to the discs. No way round it but drying the brakes after cleaning - and totally at the mercy of nature if you park it up while it's wet or raining anyway. Sometimes the type of wheel cleaner can exacerbate it.

could be caliper plate lift - see thread below (caliper refurb could do the trick, not too expensive)

They certainly do, it's a function of the piston seals in the calipers.

Unlikely, the 996/997 calipers don't have separate wear plates like the 993/964 items.
