Zafira cdti engine help please
Discussion
Can anyone help with problems with the wife's Zafira please?
Car is a 2010 '59' reg Zafira 1.7 cdti ecoflex 110bhp.
The car has started stalling at idle - it runs for 20 seconds at idle then cuts out. Turning the ignition off and back on and it restarts fine, yet trying without turning the car back on results in turn over but no firing. It does drive normally other than the stalling at idle issue - no good in the rush hour!
I have done basics as far as my mechanical knowhow goes -
New battery in keyfob in case it was immobiliser issue
Replaced fuel filter and done oil change for good measure.
I Googled the symptoms and found a lot of my symptoms pointed to the 'suction control valve' on the back of the fuel pump - this failing gave the same symptoms - flat spots, lack of performance, erratic idle, stalling.
I bought the correct replacement and fitted it. The fault is the same with the new valve fitted. If I unplug the valve, the fault disappears. Plug it back in and the fault is back.
Either I have a faulty valve or there is still a fault code I need to clear?
Any suggestions? I know there are still fault codes as I have done the pedal test ands it throws 3 codes - EGR, Fuel Pressure Regulator and another I cant remember off the top of my head. Ive got a theory that I need to get these codes cleared from the history before it will reset itself and run off correct values?
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful. I have ordered a 'tech2' lead from ebay and am going to a garage with decent Snap On diagnostics on Friday, but the dealers or other specialists cant see me until next week.
