Looking for a home safe - Phoenix?
Discussion
My insurance company requires "a safe" if I leave specified valuables at home. It doesn't need to have a valuables rating.
I've heard somewhere that Phoenix are good, and this one seems to fit the bill:

Any reason not to buy at £35.00 delivered? Best price I can find.
It's likely I'd only be leaving a total of less than £10,000 of valuables in it at any one time.
Thanks for any help.

Just remember to take into account the increase in replacement value of any jewellery you may be leaving in there, and also for any purchases you may make in the future.
If you did what I did, you'll end up having to buy another, rated safe in the future to ensure you are properly covered.

The problem with a cheap safe.

I have two, one easily accessible and another that is hidden, working on the principal that if somebody gets in they may not find the second, I agree they do fill up fast so bigger is best.

Most robbers cannot be bothered to mess around. If they think/know you have valuables they will torture you , the wife or kids. Lets see how long you decide to see if you "can hold out" to save some shiny objects. Look at the case this week of a couple pouring boiling water over pensioners heads to get them to open the safe. Why did they just not open it for the thieves and not have to go through the pain etc ? Or if you do want to try the second dummy safe trick, at least fill it with fakes etc . to keep them happy and have left the house etc . Security has failed the moment they have control /entered etc. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hcYB9ceiAiY

The faster they leave the better .

Try Dudley Safes, made in Birmingham, good value and when I bought my last one it included free delivery & installation at the same time. Dont skimp, get something decent that exceeds the cash rating that your insurer demands (if they are doing that). I keep important documents in mine in case of fire. These are ugly things though so if you have a cupboard or somewhere out of sight to locate it even better.

I've recently had a Dudley safe fitted when I had to update and improve my insurance/security. It is by no means a big safe, but it weighs over thirty stone. I've had it fitted with a traditional mechanical dial lock. It isn't going anywhere, but if some
broke in and threatened me or my family, I'll happily open it up for them and they can have the lot. That's what insurance is for. VGTICE said:
Wouldn't be an issue if we were allowed to throw some lead at them, you feel me?
Well, being a target shooter I do have a couple of legally held guns in the house and would have little hesitation if faced with an intruder coming up the stairs at me to put some lead in him depending whether I felt my life was in danger, and after warning him of course. I should have thought his looking down the rifling would be sufficient, unless similarly armed. He's unlikely to be quite as good a shot as me though....I digress... the safe I ordered in my opening post is out of stock and so the seller is supplying a bigger one at the same cost: http://www.phoenixsafe.co.uk/product/vela-home-off...

You should have paid attention during English lessons instead of jacking off under the desk. You might have then known the purpose and usage of "would", "would have" and similar. You dig?
My apologies. I had failed to appreciate that you are an imbecile.VGTICE said:

I do love the friendly banter you get on pistonheads. Cut's through all that fake sincerity you have to project when disagreeing with someone in a work environment. I've committed this phrase to memory (replacing English with Maths) and am now itching to use it next time I meet the DTI
