Morning all, from Scotland!

I'm planning on visiting my youngest brother at the end of this month in Melbourne we are then going to Sydney and then Cairns.

I was hoping to maybe drive from Melbourne to Sydney either in a day or two and was wondering if anyone can advise of any unusual car rental places? It would be incredible too do it in something special.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions it would be appreciated....other option maybe to fly but thought I would do some digging on this first. smile

Many thanks
Ben

Melbourne -> Sydney is a boring drive and the inland route is full of cops and cameras.

If you have to drive, I would rent something comfortable like a Commodore SV6.

Is the coastal route much better?

A little better, but still not amazing.

It's already a couple of hours longer and there are some nice stops (Lakes Entrance etc.), but the more you stop, the longer it takes obviously.

Depends how much time you have I guess.

Not really.

You can head due north from Lakes Entrance up to Cooma which is an ok drive for about an hour. The rest is pretty boring.

If you can only spend a day, just fly.

The drive is soul destroyingly boring...

I'd rather save a day and fly. if you book in time, it will probably work out to be the same price as driving + fuel!
