Hi,
My uncle has purchased a Keiser M3i spin bike (All the gear...), and wants to sync with his Garmin Edge 1000 or export his data to strava. From what I can deduce(LMGTFY), the Keiser uses bluetooth protocol and Garmin/Strava ANT+ and so never the twain shall meet?

Is there a way of exporting the data from the bike, syncing with Garmin/Strava so he can record his cadence/HR/Time etc?

Or should I just tell him he bought the wrong bike? ; )

Thanks for any assistance

I think you can get a sort of bridging device which connects to a Bluetooth Smart endpoint and converts it to ANT+? Or actually it might be the other way round (to allow you to use, for example, ANT+ HRM with Zwift on an iPad)

Worth investigating though.

The bike's alright, since it's just a spin bike, it's the computer that's gash. I've got an M3 (not the i) smile I also gave up very quickly in trying to get data out of it. Even the 'distance' isn't meaningful, what with it being some weird, proprietary measurement unit (ie not revolutions, or metres, or furlongs...).

DC Rainmaker uses a Wahoo RPM bluetooth device, sticks it in his sock; and a separate HRM.

I've also got a Keiser M3i. The computer is pretty rubbish - but that's not really the point of it, I guess.

The computer gives cadence, Watts, heart rate (with a compatible chest strap), duration and distance. The distance figure is a bit pointless - it is just based on pedal revolutions with no allowance for (gear) so the best way to travel a long distance is to put it in gear 1 and spin like a hamster.

It is a good bike, though. I bought it in preference to a turbo as it is a bit more family friendly - the wife uses it too, and I don't get banished to the garage because it looks pretty cool. But it your uncle wants Wattbike levels of data, he chose poorly.

[Edited to add: just checked and I have a third generation Keiser M3 - i.e. with the flywheel guard - rather than the M3i. The M3i does seem to have a lot more functionality, but I have no experience of it.)
