2018 auto dare i say eco

Long time dreamer of owning a UK mustang now i am selling my 996 I am getting to an age where i would consider an auto.

Whats the real life experience of owning an auto (as considering waiting for the 2018 model) is it worth waiting? is the current auto that bad!

Thats the hard question .. easy question is colour as i think we will get Yellow (wife) and Bullet Green for me..appreciate experiances

My 2p.

1. I've ordered a 2018 GT Auto - my brief drives in the current GT Auto it was pretty decent. The 2018 is a 10 speed box - still not sure how good it will be but they use it in the F150 I think.

2. I've had nothing but Autos for last 10 years because I live in Oz and it's really an Auto centric place. And I spend all my time in traffic. I must admit I wouldn't go back to Manual for a daily driver as its so relaxing and I figure flappy paddles will be decent. I do miss a Manual for a good blast and weekend use but can't say I hanker for one too often.

I've just taken delivery of a Magnetic Grey Auto Ecoboost with the custom pack (steel alloys) and it is the absolute business. In the last 10 years I've had an XK8 and a 911 (996) and had reverted to a Honda Civic Type S GT as I had fallen out of love with the cost and impracticality of "exotic" machinery and thought that was it. When I saw the new Mustang at an event last September it ticked every box and when I checked out the Ecoboost, I made up my mind. For a shade over £35,000 I've got a GT cruiser that has NO competition. Audi TT/Cayman - nope, no boot space. Nissan/Toyota hot sports models - nope, zero charisma, presence. BMW M2 or similar - ditto. Jaguar series - been there, done that. I need a GT cruiser - Aston, Bentley, F Type, Maser, Merc tick the cruiser box but how much? NO reviews mention this. The Mustang Ecoboost sits on its own. I didn't want a 5.0 (WAS tempted) - I'm 62, I did that moons ago with my Transam back in the 80s when I was in the Gulf. I've had it three weeks now and guys I have never met come up to me in car parks or my driveway and tell me how much they love it. When I point out Beemers, Audis, 4X4s to them and tell them that they definitely cost more, they cannot believe it. I'm off on a long roadtrip soon to North Yorkshire, Surrey, Lake District then the Outer Hebrides in late summer and already planning the Monaco/Casino Square trip for 2018/19. Just stick it in drive with the luggage in the boot and we're off. Will it hold its own in Casino Square? I know what I think.

I have now done 22,000 miles in my auto ecoboost and I love mine as well. Well equipped, quiet, smooth, good looking, decent boot and as fast as I'd want for a day to day car. Mine's bullet green, which I reckon's the best colour, especially with the saddle leather interior. I'd have been barmy to have gone for a manual. Maybe its an old bloke thong - I'm 63.

I own a GT auto and its great.

Very relaxing to drive in heavy traffic, but pop it into sport mode and use the paddles and it turns into an entirely different car.

Absolutely love it.
