Hello Pistonheders, long time lurker here, particularly in the classifieds, and first time poster.

In December I picked up my first 911 after many years of wanting one and not being able to afford it, then a few more year of affording but struggling to justify the purchase!

Got my hands on a 997.2 Carrera S and I'm bloody delighted with it. Thought I'd share my joy on here with a picture of washday...

Very nice indeed. You will only grow to love it more in my experience. I drove out in mine today nearly two years into ownership and it still makes me feel happy.

Needs more pics!

Don't have loads of pics but here's another.

Had an E46 M3 for many years before this which I cherished but the pork is a special car by comparison. A real sense of occasion when it comes out of the garage!

Never owned a black car before and it truly is a nightmare to keep clean at this time of year. Looking forward to sunny days and clean, dry roads.

Congratulations - like you I moved up from an E46 M3 to a 997, so can understand how you're feeling - enjoy!!

I also moved from an E46 M3 SMG to a 996 C4. I've had mine nearly 2 years and I still love every chance I get to drive it.

Nice car!

Interesting comment. Think any car is difficult to keep clean at this time of year - and noticeable once dirty too.

But probably because a lot of Porsche owners are quite fastidious (on here, at least).

Black is another level of cleaning nightmare. All the salt and constantly wet roads at the moment, I only need to drive to the end of my road and I have white/grey spray over the whole car!

It isn't a daily driver (my 'daily' is a folding bike and train :-)) so the lack of sunshine has turned it into a garage queen! Hopefully get some nice dry days this weekend and I'll go for a spirited blast followed by a wash and polish.

Cheers for the complimentary comments everybody. Very much enjoying Porsche ownership.

I can appreciate that BMW M-cars are good cars but for the life of me cant understand how people compare them to Porsche cars. One is a mass produced 4 seats car which has been tweaked. The other is a purpose built sports car. There is no comparison.

Completely agree, now have a 997 c2s but prior to that a e46 M3, the M3 is a dam fine car, and I would always say different rather than better or worse that the c2.

Feel your pain. Maybe consider a detailing. I got mine detailed/ceramic coated before collection & it has made it significantly easier to wash.
