Any one can fit a Ripshifter as long as they follow the instructions. Make sure that the guy doing it does not rotate the gear knob or the catch mechanism will break and your knob will be loose. Also use thread lock as the instructions say. I know of one well know garage that did not and the customer was lucky not to have the whole thing come apart. Also there are some specific instructions for Monaro's that could require removal of metal around the entrance of the gear into the tunnel, make sure this is done or the linkage will sound worse than the original.
I had mine done by a garage here on the Isle of Wight, they did an excellent job and I have been enjoying and positive shift ever since. Even the garage owner said it was a very worthwhile modification when he drove it.

I'm sure the experts could give a far more detailed description but it's basically a quick shift, not sequential. Check out www.gmmotorsport.com.
