Renault Clio 200 Cup
Discussion
Hi,
Thought I'd post a little write up on my 200 Cup, I've had the car coming up to a year now and moved to it from a Fiesta ST (Mk6 2.0). I bought the car as I've always seen them as being something rather special in terms of being the last manual N/A Clio so it seemed a logical purchase after ~5yrs of ST ownership.
I picked it up with 42k miles on the Clock which was very low for a 6yr old car at the time and it was completely standard, I only had 3 things which I would not compromise on when looking for it which were:
- Recaro Seats
- Cup Pack (Stiffer springs + ARB, Quicker steering rack, red Brembo calipers)
- Optional aircon
Since owning the car I've made the following changes:
- Ferodo DS2500 Pads
- Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid
- Nankang NS2R Tyres
- Steering Wheel Retrimmed by Royal Steering Wheels
- Powerflex Engine Mounts
- H&R Springs with 19mm spacers
- Scorpion decat exhaust (Non-res)
- KTR Induction Kit
- Lightweight Crank pulley (1700g to 600g)
- Pioneer headunit soley for Bluetooth connectivity
- Number plate changed
- Remap by EFI Parts
This is how the car was when I purchased it:

Optional Speedline wheels with Cup Pack Calipers:

How the car looked after the H&R Springs were fitted, no spacers on in this pic but you can see why I needed them.

Scorpion exhaust sounds really well and produces some nice pops on occasion without being obnoxious bangs that seem to be all the rage these days. It's a little droney on the motorway due to the decat but thankfully my commute is only 7mi so it's tolerable. The car still has a precat in the manifold which means it's not overly loud from the back either.

Once I'd changed the exhaust and induction kit the car suffered with a massive flatspot between approximately 2-4k RPM which made it a pig to drive, eventually I took it to Chris @ EFI Parts for mapping who completely transformed the car for the better. Final result was 205bhp and 167lbft.

My wheel from Royal Steering Wheels. The standard wheel on the Cup is just a plain faux leather thing which is really thin and horrible to hold, it also suffers from 'peeling' as a common fault which can only be cured with an aftermarket wheel or retrimming. Royal made my standard wheel a bit thicker, added the red notch at the top and the perforations to either side; perhaps one of the best changes I've actually done to this car.

Lightweight crank pulley before and after, car felt more responsive on the throttle after fitting.

And finally how the car sits as of today. It's due to have some paint issues patched up later this month and then onwards to be professionally detailed as the paint is covered rather badly in swirls.
