911R You wait for one to come and then 3 arrive at once

Following on from my "My Hands fell off" thread I dropped into the dealer for a new clock. Walking around the show room look/dreaming at the usual GT3s when I saw a sign saying "Do Not Touch". I walked over to see 2 911Rs.

I then saw this,




$208k! Where do I sign? I checked in with the service manager and this is the original sales notice. The car is on consignment and they are looking to broker the sale at $750k. The white one had already sold and the 3rd was being prep'd to be picked up as it was sold as well.

Not wanting to start an old debate with this post. Just amazed to see 3 911Rs in one place and they do look fantastic

a colleague has one. from what I can make out they don't use it as too scared of devaluing. they'd have more driving fun owning a 2.7 Boxster.

It's funny isn't it - by pure looks alone it SHOULDN'T feel special. But it does when you see it/sit in it. Don't know how they do it. Sat in mine for 30 mins today feeling silly and enjoying it at the same time. Can't drive it yet as there's still salt on the roads

If i was one of the people who had money to buy a 991R (at the normal original asking price of course) I would drive it everyday...and I would not give a f*ck about future value or resale. As a petrolhead I would buy this car for me and for me to enjoy everyday! Maybe people who buy them and are so worried about the value, because they don't have money enough to actually drive them... Why else would you not drive them...? The only reason is because you bought the 991R solely as an investment. I can understand this....but when you could buy it at normal price, you can drive it everyday for 4-5 years and still sell it with a big profit... Maybe not the most expensive 911R, but even the cheapest 911R with a lot of miles wil be sold and bought by someone who is brainwashed by the hype of this car. Such a shame most of these 911R cars are now so overpriced that people don't drive them anymore

Live in Germany. st load of salt on the roads here during winter. Should be washed away fairly soon though. Can't wait.

And yet, I thought that was the point being made - driving it all the time, through salt and grit, wouldn't be enjoyable as far as each particular owner is concerned. This means that driving it 'every day' in those conditions wouldn't be enjoyable.

Their car, their pleasure (or not!).

I agree that if you use a car every day, it soon becomes 'everyday', however there is a difference between not using a car as a daily, and not using it at all, never exploring its power, handling, braking, chassis, never seeing what it can do & why it is so revered, in fact, not wanting to put any miles on it for fear of devaluing it. It is actually quite offensive to me that there are so many people out there clamoring to own and drive one of these cars, and those who do own them chose never to experience what they are capable of that makes them special

Was the 'not using it at all' mentioned? Just asking! Not using it was mentioned, never ever has to be inferred. Not using it (every day) not using it (on salted and gritted roads) are alternatives.

If it's not at all, it's not uncommon. Collectors can be like that and still enjoy their cars.

Can't see how it's offensive, it's a matter of personal choice.

I don't drive any of my more special cars when there's salt on the roads and my motive is pure mechanical sympathy. Anyone who has seen a 911 Suspension that has seen loads of salt will surely share my sentiment.
