at silverstone..anyone going or know anything about it???
seen a couple of articles about the series.. and it looks great... but the silverstone website has no info, other than tickets £10.. no timetable or anything... and their booking line is, very usefully, "closed for the easter weekend"
so does anybody know where I can get a timetable etc, or ANY other info about tomorrows event??
Thanks all..

www.eerc.co.uk is the site although I can't find the timetable I was sure was on there at some point.
I think the racing was from about 11am to 4pm.

Britsports look good to me...
see this bit of news from our venerable PH.. the pics show some pretty interesting stuff.

Production S1 are just that.. for example, the RX8's from that formula woman program are racing in it.. basically a standard road-car with roll-cage and slicks.

I'll definitely be there. Look out for the red Hyundai Coupe lurking about in the paddock car park. Followed this series avidly last year and it was superb. Top class looks interesting with an ex-DTM Astra and an ex-Aussie V8 Falcon up against GT Porsches, Ferraris, a Corvette and a Viper.
Production S1 is, as was mentioned before, for more production-based cars like Integra Type-Rs, M3s, Focuses and the like. Britsports features proper sportscars like Radicals, Junos, Chirons, Aerial Atoms etc.
See you trackside...

There is a yellow Elise in the race also, its got a Honda engine in it so will be good to see the result. They have had to replace the chassis after an off due to oil dropped by another car. Result was a 100mph parallel park job and a few days taking everything off the old chassis and onto the next. Good work guys but of course all the setup work done with the old one is now moot.
The racing was good enough. The experience was only hampered by Silverstone's inability to open a SINGLE grandstand viewing area for spectators. It was only by luck that we discovered mid-afternoon that it was possible to view from the pit wall (which was great, but it wasn't being publicised).
Silverstone must simply do much better than this. So much for "the home of motor racing"...

The grandstand seating at Woodcote was open -and it usually is for all race meetings. We watched from there and you get a to watch the cars from Bridge all the way up to Copse. It is a bit of a trek at the mo, as the footbridge is closed, so you have to walk from Copse tunnel round to the grandstand.
A good day out though on Saturday.
I am grateful for you to mention that, but as you say opening the stand at Woodcote but only allowing access by walking all the way to the Copse Tunnel and then going back again is hardly visitor friendly is it?
I stand by what I said. The lack of even a few stands is simply a poor way to treat paying customers. There was no signage to indicate what was open, nothing in the programme and none of the marshals we talked to had a clue either.
I used to be a strong supporter of the BRDC's fight against Bernie Ecclestone but now I wonder if he has a point when he says the place is crap (Note to Bernie: move the event to Castle Combe please!)

Corozin - I hear what you're saying - please don't think I'm defending Silverstone management. I was just pointing out what was (and usually is) open for seating. AFAIK, the main start/finish seating is only opened for the 'big events' F1. BTCC, Superbikes etc. You do get a very good view from Woodcote though. Sometimes you can blag your way into the BRDC stand on the inside of the circuit at Brooklands complex - depends on who is on security though.
Don't misunderstand, your comments were helpful. I just wish the signage, programme or even the marshals we spoke to could have told me what you did.
I think I was just guilty of being under the misconception that all Silverstone events are reasonably well organised. I don't think it's asking too much considering they're charging you to get in.
Oh well... Gurston Down's only a few weeks away now...
