Hi Andy,

Fancy seeing you here. You got rid of the T350 then? I've ended up with a (tweaked) S2, good fun aren't they?

Lary car needs a lary colour

My only criticism of the 111R's are the cans - just look too puny for a car of its stature, like a pair of frickin pea-shooters - come on Lotus, sort it out!!!

Hi Neil. Yes sold the T350. Found it a tad frustrating on track, although absolutely glorious on the road. Guess that I just prefer low momentum cars. I agree about the cans. I will probably have stage one cans fitted on first service. Nervous about noise levels though as I need to be able to get onto Combe and Bedford.

Mine has a Janspeed stainless exhaust and de-cat pipe. Addictive noise but I fear is probably too loud for most places now. The guy who had it before me reckoned it was abot 105db.

Yes I understand that 2005 models use the lettering instead of the badge. Does anyone know of a stage one exhaust for teh 111R that will pass the Combe noise police?

I noticed that yesterday, while looking round some new cars. Think I prefer the badge.

Think the L O T U S lettering looks the biz, glad they've gone back to this.
Does anyone make a 111R exhaust that exits from the sides like the IIIs? The central exhaust really does look weak.

The stage 2 exhaust finishes more or less flush with the diffuser so you cant see it at all unless you bend down to take a look. Sounds awesome too.

have to say I prefer the L O T U S lettering too. I think all the federal Elises are that way. Car looks sweet, I forgot to say!

Thanks Wearypanda for the pictures.
I prefer by far the L O T U S letters. If all 2005 model are so, that is the good news of the WE for me.
When did you order your car? I am waiting for mine since half november.
Called my dealer who said that mine was not yet in production....

Strange! I ordered mine in the last week of February and it'll be delivered 1st week of June, that's only 12 weeks altogether...

Maybe because mine is a 111S and LHD? I really do not understand why my dealer even does not know the week of production. With 25 new elise ordered in 2004, he seems to be a "big" dealer... for Belgium at least.
Any comment would be appreciated

A week and just 350 miles with the car (weather has been preety crap). Great car, cannot wait to reach that magic 600 miles and first srvice soon afterwards. Then the fun really begins.

Just two issues.
Firstly I seem to have that common 111R rattle noise on balanced throttle. Has anyone found a solution to this yet?
Secondly, the gearchange is pretty stiff. Gets quite a bit better when everything has warmed up but still quite a struggle between 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I am sure this will improve with miles but would like to know if they all so that.

Sunny tomorrow at last - excellent!

All 111r's seem to be affected by *the rattle*, but on some cars it's louder than others. I had a chap come up from Hethel to look at mine, and IIRC it is related to the gear selector mechanism and cables. There's no fix ATM, but you can shut it up temporarily by wibbling the gearstick or holding it to one side whilst in gear. I was initially convinced it was a bad bearing, but now I'm reassured the 'box isn't in imminent danger of exploding, I tend not to notice it any more.

The gearshift is initially tight, but it will indeed loosen with miles. I also note that it's better once everything's properly warmed-up. My car has now done a little over 6k miles and the gearchange is sweet - it's loosened up a treat, but when I initially collected the car, it was notchy as hell and was particularly tight going into first (eg when rolling up to traffic lights).

Hope this helps
