Goodwood FOS 2005
Discussion
I managed to leave my new copy of Autosport in the pub last night after a bit of an incident with my pal Stella Artois, but I do recall reading about the line up for Goodwood in June. This years Festival will have current F1 cars being driven up the drive from McLaren, Williams, Ferrari, BAR, Renault, Toyota and possibly Red Bull with Alain Prost driving his 1989 championship winning McLaren Honda, plus a whole load of other McHondas and more Ferraris than ever before. All that for the price of a Silverstone burger and beer !

i do hope the "wacky races" ensemble will be on show, also.
re: stella losing your autosport - sympathies, this is why i don't drink "wife beater" any longer ... especially when i learnt that scary description was the euphemism for stella artois.

Sounds fairly normal to me.
Although the current F1 machinery is a good crowd draw, I'm more interested these days in the historic stuff - especially the escoteric items that sometimes turn up - like Lake Bed Fuel Tank dragsters, or radial air cooled engined 1950s GP cars.
There will apparently be more historic stuff than ever, particularly from Ferrari and Mercedes while Honda are pulling out all the stops this year. Mind you, I don't think the best thing ever to appear at Goodwood will be there. I'm talking of the mad American pensioner (Don Riggles or something ?) who drove a dragster up the hill on its rear wheels, seeing where he was going by looking thru a glass panel in the floor, igniting the straw bales as he passed. Absolutely hilarious..

Tis Good Friday? And the aerial boys are fitting a new one on my house roof to rid ghosting from my new flat screen 32 inch-er. (Boasting again.) And the hard hats with a JCB are reforming the footpaths in the mews lane, and two houses still getting built. No wonder I am confused. Wish I could get to Goodwood, though. I'll be back in LA by June. We have Pebble Beach over there, but the cars are usually parked for attention until passing the judges' stand. Bit inert,if you ask me.
i am feeling rather inert myself today, i must say. however, i must steel myself for a holiday drinky-poos session in town this afternoon. weather is too crap for bike or car anyway, so west yorkshire's delightful bus service will be pressed into action.
la in june and so missing goodwood? my heart bleeds (not), lol.
concours static car shows are indeed very sad - is akin to being in a room with a naked britney spears and being told "don't touch" (seen her $40m playboy poses? gulp).
ahem.

I assume said missus is not looking over your shoulder as you type. I can attast to the Britney test. Was shopping in New York last year - "shopping" as in wandering with empty pockets, and while in trendy clothes store became aware of two very large black muscle men hovering nearby. They were minders. As I made my exit a crowd had gathered outside, eager kids and paparazzo among them. It turn and saw the minders on either side of said wench, right behind me, trade mark cap on her head, enjoying the photay opportunity. Anyhow, that's all a long way from Goodbody, I mean, Goodwood.
indeed, she's not looking, but she is already aware of my "interest" in ms spears. a friend emailed me the playboy pics, if you're interested ... why chaps warble on about kylie when there is britney i will never understand.
bumped into britney in nyc? what a place. bugger, i miss it. i just loved the fact one never knew who one might bump into. best i got was drinking with jackie mason in a bar one evening. ok, i'd have preferred a few drinks (etc) with britney, but jackie mason probably has the better collection of anecdotes and jokes ... what we chaps need is a woman with jackie mason's sense of humour and britney's body.
yes, ladies, i am sure you also have similar fantasies. me? i am a combination of brad pitt and david mellor. shame god got the good and bad bits the wrong way around, however.
hi ho.
