Hi all, a what boring car thread that I could use some help with.

My parents are wanting to buy a new car soon, and I would like some ideas.
They are moving on from a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4l, and ideally would like something with a little more space/legroom but without being an estate.

They were paying £180 a month for the Corsa, so anything similarly priced would be good, plus they would have the trade in price of a 2012 Corsa.

They were considering a Vauxhall Mokka, and although I hate the look of it, does anyone know if it's a good buy?

Requirements:
- 4 doors, 5 seats
- Preferably petrol
- Preferably manual
- 200 p/m or less, with probably a £5000 deposit contribution

Thanks!

Do you know if it's any good, better or worse than the Mokka?

Thanks

My brother in law has a Mokka and other than a pokey diesel engine, he hates it. I hate it too, crashy ride, poor quality interior.

I've not driven a Yeti but they seem highly regarded, and the one linked to above is a good example of the lease deals around.

being named 'mokka' is the only reason you need to hate it

Don't go Vauxhall. My mum had terrible trouble with a Corsa in terms of poor quality interior.

Try a Focus. She's much happier with it and the quality is much much better.

My Dad has ordered the 2.0tdi top spec yeti as his next company car - we popped round to the dealer for a sniff around one and they seem like a nice enough place to be. Reliability on skodas of late is pretty good and that 2.0tdi lump has proved its worth in other VAG stuff.

Generally I dont rate vauxhalls but it theyre happy with what theyve got.. new shape astra?

I had a fairly high spec Mokka as a courtesy car for 3 months. The 1.7cdti was peppy enough. Interior was standard vauxhall; i.e. barely any change model to model. Was it a nice enough drive? Yes. Would I own one? Absolutely not.

Never driven a Mokka but we love our Yeti.

Got it in a very cheap lease deal last year without doing much research but it's really got under my skin for being a great family car that does all the basics really well. It replaced a M135i (and although I have something tasty on order which is the M135i's replacement), I haven't been too bothered about riding around in the Yeti since.

Another vote for the Yeti. A bloke at work has done 50,000 trouble free miles in his and loves it.

His is the 160 bhp 1.8 which I don't think is available any more.

Thanks all, looks like the Yeti will have to be test driven!
