Not ridden either but to me fattie also = rigid forks.

I'm currently weighing my options up for a new decent mtb. 650b and 650b plus are also on my mind.

fatties are heavy and slow. useful if you ride what they were invented for or want extra fitness/workout

Rigid single speed 29er, or fat bike? Mate of mine rides a single speed fat bike, where does that fit in? I ride because I enjoy it, the bike type isn't that important...

27.5+. A lot of the fun of a full on fattie, but you can also change out the wheels to 29'rs (assuming you have right hubs) for faster xc type riding.

its a long story but basically fallen out of love of MTB'ing.

Working too hard and unfit.

Looking at Turbo Levo full suspension to get me out and started again.

I think the wheels are switchable so maybe that is the answer.

Just wondered what experiences people had had with the fatties.

My ideal combo would be a hard tail ELECTRIC Fat Bike for mixed surface leisure and short distance commuting; a full sus 27.5er (non downhill) for off road stuff; and maybe a cyclo-cross bike for long leisure rides :{}.

Actually have a 29er hard tail for leisure, trail parks & soft off roading and a 27.5 rigid hybrid custom with skinny tyres for commuting.

Still cant resist using the 29er for commuting and the 27.5 for leisure though ...

well I took the plunge and I am very pleased with the bike.

Mostly ridden some local bridleways and green lanes but today was my first trip to Cannock Chase and the Follow the Dog route.

Bike was outstanding and coped with everything the trail threw at it and the tyres do work very well in this environment.

I think I did let the bike down though! It could have taken the downhill sections much much faster but I am so out of practice I was quite cautious in some sections.

But my sense of balance was improving by the end and I was definitely beginning to trust the bike.

Hopefully we will get another day of sunshine and I can go again!

Congrats to the volunteers who look after the trail - I was expecting a mud bath but instead I only found one puddle
