(ANSWERED)T&Cs - Slightly Confused
Discussion

Do not create threads/posts about your own personal websites, blogs, social media channels or video hosting sites such as YouTube. This will be deemed as advertising and/or endeavouring to drive traffic to external sites from PistonHeads.
So can we post links to externally hosted videos, or not?Forgive me if I'm wrong, but all PH hosted videos are now defunct, correct?

Isn't the mention of video hosting sites meant to stop people posting links to their own YouTube channels?
That's how I read it. It's basically to stop users posting content that promotes / drives their own business or posting content that specifically earns them advertising revenue whenever it's clicked / viewed. So basically posting up their own personal YT channel for things like car reviews, blogs, photography.ukkid35 said:

Do not create posts... [that include links to] video hosting sites.Or have I misinterpreted the T&Cs?
Third party content, like say a dashcam video posted in the dashcam thread, from someone you don't know is unlikely to be an issue IMO.
I think the wording should be as below:

The part in the quote above, in bold, is the important bit. Basically you can't post or promote your own personal content or it will probably be removed by the PH mods when they spot it.

And yes, this is exactly right Third party content, like say a dashcam video posted in the dashcam thread, from someone you don't know is unlikely to be an issue IMO.

What is the HM/PH rational thinking behind this?
To me it seems insane as a business model for an Internet forum.

This thread was discussed in the mods last May when it was first posted, the general consensus was that it should remain and left to run. There are always exceptions to every rule, I see no reason why the that thread should not continue. What is the HM/PH rational thinking behind this?

One reason for implementing this new rule was to deter new members signing up just to post their own Youtube clips, It was also to deter members posting links to monetised clips. This was a bit of a grey area in the past as it wasn't really covered in the trimmed down (previous) rules.

Just requested an HM approved Icon for the thread, that should keep it safe from removal.

Thanks Al, that's very reassuring, and I appreciate you're behind the scenes of openness. This point annoys me, and it is nothing about you Big Al. What annoys me is that the PH community have an allegedly Class 1 Police driving instructor , who has been out for drives with people from this forum, has made and shared videos yet a

In all honesty Mate, the vast majority of the new rules were written by the mods, the last couple of sets have been so wooly that we just failed to moderate with any consistency.
