Since the closure of the factory there has a been a number of stories surrounding a potential return to business under new ownership. In recent weeks rumours have suggested that the firm could return to business under British ownership!

The following has been lifted from an American site but comes from an respected voice on matters De Tomaso

The famous Italian sportscar maker De Tomaso could shortly be returning to
production with reports circulating that the firm has been sold to an English
buyer.

De Tomaso was put into liquidation last summer by Isabel Haskell, wife of
founder Alejandro De Tomaso the larger than life businessman who steered the tiny
firm throughout its history.

Alejandro, who was born in Argentina in 1928, passed away on 31st May 2003.
The De Tomaso family started building their own cars in 1959, and took control
of another famous Italian carmaker, Maserati, for a period from 1975. The firm
is probably best known for the long-running, Ford-engined Pantera model."

I for one would be delighted to see this little corner of Modena returning to car manufacture

May be Peter Wheeler (ex Mr TVR) has decided to spend his millions on another car company

...or maybe not, as I believe he was quoted as saying that the engine should always be in the "expletive deleted" front of the car

Edited to say....whoever it is, I wish them well. Good to see De Tomaso back.

The Guara was produced in the mid 90's, I think, and ran a BMW V8.

A bit bland for me, and the engine isn't 'sposed to sound too great (for a sports car).

Now, a Pantera, especially the later bespoilerd jobs, could almost out-do a Countach in the looks department. Nice noisy Ford B8 too

Early Guara ran the BMW V8, later version had the Mustang V8, which probably sounded better (well, louder!)

The Pantera is one of the all time great looking cars of automotive history. Updated to 2005 specs would be a dream. And why not? There will be buyers. Nice beefy new Vette lump in . . .
