Under New Labour is there anything synonymous to the old YTS scheme?

Er indoors has been running a business for a while now and its starting to take off. Not so much that she could afford a full time employee but it would be an opportunity for a youngster to get a foot up in business. Basically there is too much for one person to do but not enough to justify a full time proper employee.

Is there anything?

It looks like there isnt then?

Labour truly are the party of the sponger arent they.

YTS whilst it had its faults at least gave business an easier start with a view to long term putting more money into the economy. This bunch seem hell bent on keeping as much money in the system as possible.

God forbid one would want to better themselves through hard work...

As for Mexicans. I dont think there is a Taco Bell round here...

They may be something on a local level. At a client in Bradford (not your neck of the woods I know) they had loads of young 'uns swarming round the place who all had their wages paid for for a year providing they were given training (to NVQ level 2 - which I believe means you can write your own name) in a specific job related area, customer services in this case.

Aren't these called modern apprenticeships now?

www.apprenticeships.org.uk for the youth
www.learndirect.co.uk for the employer
