Just got this email from my OPC. Did laugh at the reference to "Porsche Trained Technicians", when for MOT'S they simply bump it local MOT station round corner, then bung on a big mark up.

Tempted to reply, asking to confirm that only "Porsche Trained Techs" will be touching my car.

I know the lads that do the local BMW main dealers cars. They go and collect and deliver back. If I owned a BMW I would be extremely unhappy if I saw/knew how they were treated on that 4 mile journey. I doubt Porsche are dealt with any differently...

Same here. My OPC push car to the nearest MOT station and add there markup. Also the MOT guy's always seem to add some grease to doors and steering wheel as a bonus for me. My MOT is due this month. Checked with Porsche that there were no updates to be done on car. Local garage will do MOT for £35 while I wait and a cup of coffee.

I got a Boxster S to play with for the day when my car had its MOT done in November. MOT not such a bad deal!

A lot of OPC have MOT in house, mine is done inhouse, also MOT's are capped price wise.

And the fact that when I take my car in for a MOT and receive a Porsche courtesy car in return for the day (or collection to and from my office should I request) plus a free car wash for when I collect, then it makes a £50 MOT pretty good value in my opinion.

Another for opc in house mot! When I had the 111point check done for warranty on my old spyder I had the mot done at the same time and i only paid the warranty inspection fee!

Take mine for the free courtesy car as quite enjoy having a spin in the parts of the range I generally wouldn't consider buying over a 911. Always make a note of mileage before and after, never had reason to query. And never let them wash it after seeing their washing techniques.

Hardly. My point was that it's funny them talking about their trained technicians in the context of MOT'S, when I know for an absolute fact that the OPC in question uses an out side test station. I didn't say it wasn't worth using the OPC (which I did last year on this car) as there are other potential benefits (ie potential nice courtesy car, maint' relationship, align with other work etc).

And ultimately the objective of forums is to spark conversation, and tat objective has been met. FORUM PASS :-)

I agree with the OP in how the advert can be seen as misleading because - even if the MoT was carried out in-house, the MoT tester won't do anything that specifically requires Porsche knowledge and experience - he just needs to be a qualified MoT tester!

My local OPC does the same, they have their prefered MOT station, but they check over the car before it goes for its MOT and the charge is no more than if I took it.

I could take my car to our local MOT station but they are used to more run of the mill cars, I would rather someone who is familiar with the likes of Porsche to look after it better than a local garage...but that's just me.
