Maranello, Wednesday. After two races blighted by poor tyres, it appears that Ferrari are going to ditch Bridgestone in favour of a new supplier. Observers have been wondering how Bridgestone, with a multi-multi million dollar budget, plus the £15 million a year they pay the Scuderia to test for solely for them, appear unable to produce four bits of rubber that only manage a few hundred miles before falling to bits. Ferrari have recently been approached by British tyre specialists Kwik-Fit, who told us this morning, 'A full set of F1 spec Bridgestones cost around £3,000 and don't appear to last that well. We do a set of Arrowspeeds for just £60 - or if they want to splash out we do the Champiros at £79.99 each, and they should see you ok for 12,000 miles' With Kwik-Fit operating a full mobile fitting service there should be no need for the team to visit the depots but the Kwik-Fit spokesman went on 'If they do come in we can also do MOT's and exhausts and they can of course have free coffee while they wait'

For the best laugh in F1, although a bit out of date now, you need to do a search on the www/usenet for "THE FORMULA ONE INSIDER".

A series of "articles" written by Mitchell McCann which, as long as you are really into the ins and outs of F1, are brilliant.

See this short example:
