i am thinking of getting a merc gl or range rover and was thinking about part exing my ferrari 456 against one, i.e. take some cash out of it at the same time.... i was thinking of spending about £25k....

question is..... what sort of dealer would do this sort of stock? and is it a good idea?

cheers

Why wouldn't you just sell the 456 yourself and pocket the extra cash?

Worth a punt selling it privately. From memory it is £65 for 6 weeks advertising on autotrader. If it doesn't sell then you could always consider part exchanging it against the new vehicle. Another option could be getting in touch with specialist dealers and see what they are willing to offer for it.

I'd speak to a few specialist dealers and see if they'd buy it off you, benchmark their price against a dealer. A lot of the big dealer groups stick everything through the auction and won't want to get their fingers burnt by it so will kick it in the balls when valuing it.

I would have thought the type of dealer that stocked range rovers would take a 456 in px providing it had a good history. If not they would ask for bids from dealers. You would be better off finding 5 Ferrari specialists and calling them to see if they would buy it outright

the history is 100% its actually for sale with a specialist at the mo but to be honest i think that they have too much stock mooch of which is a lot more money than my 456.... i could also be tempted into a continental as have always fancied one of those..... a part ex with something like that might be a bit more plausible....

Try someone like GC Motors, .i'd prefer a Range Rover sport over the conti, we took one as px granted it was an old one but I just didn't like it.

The problem you will have with yours as a px is dealers will just pay trade for it and the books are hopelessly wrong on certain stuff. I think autotrader should recommend price on an m3 csl was something like 8k

As others have said, would be better to offload the 456 first, Quite a few specialist garages that would have a go at your 456.
