I’m knackered. Just been for a lovely hike into work. I had to drop back a hired transit van this morning on the outskirts of Northampton. I’d arranged for my brother to give me a lift into work from the hire place, but he was too hung over to drive this morning. No problem I thought, time for a new experience, I’ll get a bus!

Now to get into town from the van rental place you go along a long road with a lovely long bus lane and plenty of bus stops. (Please see my other thread regarding this bus lane www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=10&h=&t=13650). So I walked to the first stop - great, no timetable, no information about which bus to get, except a list of route numbers of buses which allegedly stop there – not a great deal of use when you don’t have the slightest idea where these routes go.

So I thought I’d start just walking and flag down the first bus which came along. I walked and walked and walked, no buses. I walked past a few bus stops with one or two depressed looking people waiting at them, still no buses. I got the end of the bus lane, still no fking buses! By this point I was half way to work, so I gave up looking for buses and concentrated on speed walking to try to get into work at a reasonable time (now have a really nice blister on my foot). When I got the office, I still hadn’t been overtaken by a single bus!

What is the point of have a bloody great bust lane and allegedly some buses to go with it, if at 08:15, peak commuting time, they don’t seem to run a bus service?!?!?!
