Paddle shift vs Shift buttons
Discussion
I got my 981 with the shift buttons because I wanted the multi function buttons on the steering wheel, these work great and the shift buttons are OK when you just want the odd gear but I find them difficult to use when in full manual mode and properly moving on.
This is the cause of some frustration and so I'm thinking of buying a second hand steering wheel off ebay along with the steering wheel column stalk (for the trip computer).
Do you think I would get more enjoyment out of the paddles, and if I buy the parts 2nd hand will an OPC fit and program them? I am guessing I can keep my current airbag.

Have to say thet when I got mine I wanted, really wanted paddles as I had in my A3.................
Having 'lived with it' I would not change as I have melded with the buttons. The ability to change up or down with either habd is excellent. Perhaps Porsche were right all along..................
And yes, it really does surprise me.................

I changed to paddles. I find it makes the car much more enjoyable to drive. Well worth the £1kThis is the cause of some frustration and so I'm thinking of buying a second hand steering wheel off ebay along with the steering wheel column stalk (for the trip computer).

Did you get this fitted through the OPC or elsewhere?Paddles were a desirable option when I was looking at the cars, but couldn't find one with the necessities I had. I reckon I can get used to it though.
Interestingly the OPC told me "paddles are what people like but after 2 weeks most people just stick to the automatic mode".
Are you using manual mode majority of the time?
