Just wondering why the are looked down upon? 20 years ago when I got my 2000 series a TH was all I wanted. I aren't bothered by its value, emotionally it means more to me than someone could pay me to buy it off me.

It's a nice, simple watch that goes with anything I wear.

Not sure, but if TH is Tommy Hilfiger, I'd look at their watches the same as I look at Armani and Gucci.
They might make half-decent clothes (don't actually know, really don't care) but what do they know about making watches? I'm pretty sure their tailors haven't turned their hand to metalwork or precision engineering.

Similarly, when I need a new suit, I'm not goung to go to Rolex, Omega or Tag Heuer to get one.

TH = Tag Heuer.

Thank you - I'm here all week!

To the OP, if you like the watch it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of it.

I recenty invested almost £6 on a new watch from Sainsburys because I liked the look of it but I never had any ambition to own a watch by Sainsbury till I saw it on the rack.

It's different from my everyday Tag and my special occasion Omega. It keeps good time and I have no emotional attachment to it so if I break orlose it I won't be upset.

What people think of my watch has no bearing on me. I'm well adjusted. I'm just interested to know.

I see far more threads asking why they're derided than the actual derision purported.

They have made many good watches but I think that the quality is now, perhaps, not comparable to other makes in the same price range. They are also woefully bad when you have a problem. Beware of any advice that they may give you about a fault that they have found. Get an indie to check it as well! All in my opinion of course!

My colleague was moaning about his Carrera chronograph just yesterday about how it was unreliable and he thought it was a bad purchase. On his, the crown is stuck and the automatic mechanism isn't working well as it is running down regularly even with constant wear. I used to lust after them and came close to buying one a number of times. In comparison to the Omega I have now the Carrera is light and cheap feeling. The Planet Ocean is on another level of quality.

I have many watches but my favourite to wear is still my Tag Carrera. It is well made and easy to wear, looks good.

When I had my Rolex I was sick of people asking if it was fake, then saying how much money I had to have a genuine one.

My Planet Ocean is very nice to wear but with an orange bezel, which I love, it is loud much heavier than most others I have with the exception of my Emmas ( limited edition Octane magazine version) which gives my arm a work out.

Personally I do not care what others think, if I like it then that is all I care about and half those who say X watch is rubbish have never owned one.

If you love it thats what matters

Watch snobs tend to slag them off because its quickest name that springs to mind , especially when theres not an awful lot of brain up there .

When i first got interested in dearer watches i knew of Tag and Breitling . Tag have some nice pieces and especially now since Baselworld introduced the new Tag Heur Autavia .

I think the reason TH tend to be derided is because there is a rose tinted view of Heuer and a general view that they made great watches, and TAG had no appreciation of this when they took over.

My view is that Heuer had some great designs, but basically put stock movements in nice cases; TAG Heuer then unfortunately made some pretty ordinary stuff, but are now making some really interesting innovative pieces. So overall some justification but a bit unfair

Simply because a lot of their products are powered by base ETA or even Seiko derived engines, build quality is fine but not great, but they try and charge big boy prices. Heavy discounts don't help either.

BTW I've owned a Monaco, loved it and I'm currently wearing an Aquaracer at work
