A48, Stormy Down, Bridgend
Discussion
Funny you say that.. When the Mrs rang me about them I said how long until the limit is reduced ?!
There have been a few smashes there - usually people either blocking the outside lane turning right into stormy market, or people turning right comming out. The only bad one I've seen was a horse that got cut in half further down by the farm.
Again somewhere where road engineering could have been a better solution, but not as profitable. Just waiting for mobiles to sit in the layby just before Pyle

Probably a few typo's in there, scanned with a print reader.

SPEED cameras have been put at a
notorious accident black spot.
The speed permitted on the A48 at
Stormy Down, which has been the scene
of several serious accidents, will be cut
from 70mph to 50mph.
This will be enforced by fixed cameras
on both carriageways, near the junction
with Stormy Market, in what a spokes-
woman for the safety camera partnership
said was a bid to save lives.
Before the fixed cameras go "live,"
roadworks will begin and the speed limit
will be temporarily cut to 40mph.
The spokeswoman said this could be
enforced by a mobile speed camera if the
pilrtnership thought it necessary.
She said the fixed cameras would
become operational once the roadworks
were complete, although she could not
say when that might be.
Pyle Councillor Cheryl Butcher said
the speed cameras were necessary.
"It's a very dangerous spot," she
said.
"Unfortunately it's going to have to be
done.
"If it's going to save lives the speed
has got to be reduced and it's got to be
enforced with a speed camera.
"As long as it's advertised, so people
know."
The cameras will support a £65,000
package of road safety measures funded
by Stormy Down market's operators,
Sherman and Waterman.
These include a right-hand holding
lane for cars turning into the market.

This is the only bit that was required, why the bl00dy hell do they have to raise taxes as well? No doubt any reduction will be put down to the tax cameras encouraging the bastards to put more around the place.
