recommend me a car

Have an e90 m3 and fed up of living at the petrol station. So after something fun for commuting but cheaper.

Do around 70 miles a day so wanting atleast 30mpg but still fun and reliable.

Not wanting to spend loads 3.5k max.

thinking of something like a clio 182 or maybe a type r, or something cool like a nice e36 or mk2 golf.

Any ideas thanks!

The above are viable alternatives (the two that would tempt me are the VXR & the Mito) & worth a look I'd still be tempted by the Clio especially if it's a Cup but I'd also be tempted by it's bigger brother although they are a little more maintenance heavy.
