Change in upcoming role, means I will be doing the above mileage per year out of my own pocket.

Been running a 1yr old 330d on co car policy recently, which although very capable and frugal, has too small a platform to be comfortable and Im not keen on spending too much money on a highly used fast-depreciating asset.

So what are the options?

Must be:
4/5 doors
Larger platform
Comfortable
Reliable
30mpg+? (330d has done 45mpg over 23k)

All thoughts greatly appreciated!

Budget?

If reasonable I'd look at the diesel X350 XJ, Volvo S80 (post-07), Merc E classes etc.

Budget depends on how long the thing will last!

Plus, need to consider the point where the thing has more to lose

What age does the facelift kick in?

The 211 is on my favoured list, but at the lower price point.

Don't worry about the facelift the straight 5/6 cylinder diesels are frugal (they also benifit from no DPF) especially with a map I was getting high 40's on the motorway 28-32mpg around central London with my 270 get a low mileage model from 2004 onwards & you won't go wrong.

Sounds like the 211 is a good shout then.

Anything to watch out for or include?

Other options?

Don't get hung up on having Nav it's not the greatest unit I'd say if you're doing 20k Nav Bluetooth DAB etc are a must so I'd look for either the Pioneer SPH DA120 or the Clarion NX505e both can be fitted so the all the steering controls still work, most will have xenons.

Here's a link to the units I'm talking about.
