Hi

I have the opportunity to buy the above, it needs some work to get it MOT ready but does anyone have any experience with them? Are they rare nowadays? Any insight of owners past or present would be useful. It's manual also not auto.

Gutless and snail like. Could be a prime contender for an engine swap?

I have the 300tdi in a discovery 1 and it isnt as bad as all that tbh, unless the RRC is heavier ? Wonder what engines would go in without much work hmmmm

111 bhp in 1800kg is woeful. 0-60 around 17 seconds is snail-like.

Um Its a classic 4x4 that's going up in value I would guess the last thing the OP is thinking would be I wonder how I can improve my quarter mile time , while he is pottering along !!! He will be thinking where can I get that bit of trim and have I got the right wotsits ...

Yeah speed isn't what I'm after to be honest, I was thinking make it roadworthy and then keep it an an investment/give it the odd run out. £800 cheap?

Depends what is needed to make it road-worthy. I, personally, would be looking for a petrol one. I have had 3 RR Classics and tried a diesel one once. Never again, performance is not adequate in the slightest. 3.5 V8 was OK, 3.9s were better, not tried a 4.2.
