I believe they can put you back to your original situation, so give your old car back and refund your balance payment.

If they have moved the vehicle into the trade then yes you will need to tax it, insurance isn't an issue as whatever car you have you will need to tax and they can write to the dvla and get you put back as the original keeper but this can take up to 6 weeks.

In all honesty it sounds like you have changed your mind and putting a deposit on another car at another dealership without resolving the issue was not the best move.

I've not changed my mind and put a deposit on another quashqui as I like them and it's more than just the wipers wrong.
They lied about the "new part" put in the vehicle which made me wonder what else I've been lied to about.
It puts you off the vehicle and the people your dealing with especially having children to think about.
I put a deposit down on another car as at that point I was advised I would get a full refund but never explained it was of balance and getting old car back. I have calls all recorded so I could listen back and be certain of what was being said to me and also my father spoke with them as well to clarify.
I'm not a nightmare! Sounds like you work for them!

It sounds as if the fault is not the wiper motor (do you really believe they had a new one lying around?). You need to give them a chance to fix the issue.

As for the refund, I would say a fair and reasonable person would expect their old car back plus the cash they paid. You should not have put a deposit on another car.

You are not being fair and reasonable, you sound like a nightmare TBH.
