I'm considering at getting an Avant version of the above in S Line/Black Series spec as my next car and would like some idea of how it drives. I'm sure that it handles in the way that Audis tend to and isn't the greatest driver's car but is it still enjoyable on a decent road all things considered?

I'm short on options really as I'd like something with a huge boot and 4WD, so it's this or a Touareg, X5 or ML.

There are a few complaints that the pedals are offset so have a good test drive. I've got a A5 and don't find it to be a problem.

Also don't expect anywhere near manufactures fuel economy figures!

They make a very good motorway car, the 3.0 doesn't feel very quick, the steering is light and if you can find the Quattro as it has the better gearbox. A 530d is a far better drivers car.

I have a 2012 A6 3.0 tdi Quattro and I've enjoyed it a lot. It's not a car for exciting driving but on the moterway it's effortless. The ride is very comfortable - I have the SE, the S-Line is much firmer. If you want a very comfortable smooth car that will munch miles and enable you to drive long distances without getting fatigued it's perfect. If you want something you can hammer around country lanes on the edge then it's not going to be the car for you.

Thanks for the feedback. It confirms what I expected really that they're very Audi-like!
